Kling 4.0 vs Seedance 2.5: which one to use

Both make one take of up to 30 seconds with sound, from a prompt or from what you attach. The difference is how you steer them. Kling 4.0 gives you a row of up to 10 frames and saved subjects with voices. Seedance 2.5 takes far more references, audio included, and a cheap 480p draft before the final.

    The short answer

Pick Kling 4.0 when you want to pin the motion with frames along the take, or keep a saved character and its voice across runs. Pick Seedance 2.5 when one request has to carry many references, when your own audio should guide the sound, or when you want to try ideas as 480p drafts before a 1080p final.

    Pick Kling 4.0 when

    • You want to set where the take goes with up to 10 frames
    • A character, product or place is saved once and called by name in every run
    • A character should speak with a voice you saved
    • You need a clip as short as 3 seconds

    Pick Seedance 2.5 when

    • One shot has to carry many references: up to 30 images, 10 clips and 10 audio clips
    • A song or a voice line of your own should guide the soundtrack
    • You want to try ideas at 480p in Draft mode before you pay for 1080p
    • The clip is 4:3 or 3:4

    Frames or references

Kling 4.0 Frames lets you pin a first frame, up to 8 frames in between and a last frame, so you decide where the shot is at each step and the model fills the motion between them. Seedance 2.5 takes a first frame and an optional last frame, and does its heavier steering through references: up to 30 images, 10 videos and 10 audio clips that you call in the prompt.

    Keeping a subject the same

On Kling 4.0 you save a person, a product or a place as an element, from 2 to 4 images or one short video, and you can give a character a voice. Mention it by name and it comes back the same in the next run. Seedance 2.5 holds a subject through the references you attach to each request.

    Trying ideas for less

Seedance 2.5 has Draft mode: a 480p preview first, then the 1080p final from the same settings once you like it. Kling 4.0 has no draft mode, so the way to test there is a short 720p run before the long 1080p take.

    Where they rank

Seedance 2.5 sits at the top of the School text to video and image to video boards, built from public blind votes. Kling 4.0 is not on the School boards yet.
